Birmingham Knife Attack Leaves Four Injured

On the morning of yesterday, a knife attack occurred in the Kingstanding area of north Birmingham, resulting in multiple injuries. A 32-year-old male suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody. Four individuals were slashed during the incident, with two requiring hospitalization. Police are currently seeking a potential fifth victim who has not yet come forward.

Incident Details

The attack took place near Blenheim Way at approximately 6:30 AM. Emergency services responded promptly to reports of an armed individual with a knife in the vicinity of Hawthorn Road and Kingstanding Road. CCTV footage captured the suspect walking down the street openly carrying a knife before randomly attacking a passerby. The footage shows the assailant walking away as the victim fled the scene.

Police Response

West Midlands Police quickly responded to the incident, resulting in the arrest of a 32-year-old male suspect who remains in custody. Officers have been conducting local inquiries and collecting CCTV footage to support their ongoing investigation. Initially, police reported that two members of the public were injured, with one requiring hospitalization. However, subsequent information revealed that four individuals had been slashed during the incident, though fortunately none sustained serious injuries.

Outstanding Concerns

The police have identified a potential fifth victim through CCTV footage who has not yet made contact with authorities. West Midlands Police have released an image of this individual, despite acknowledging the poor quality of the image, in hopes that someone might recognize him and encourage him to contact the police to ensure his wellbeing.

According to West Midlands Police: “We are continuing our investigation after a number of people were assaulted in Kingstanding this weekend. A 32-year-old man remains in custody after four people were slashed at with a knife in the area around Blenheim Way yesterday. Fortunately no-one was seriously injured in the incident. Officers have been carrying out local enquiries and have been gathering CCTV footage to help with their investigation. A potential fifth victim has been identified who our officers would like to speak to. We appreciate this is not the clearest image, but we’re hoping someone who knows the man may be able to put him in touch with us so we can make sure he is okay.”
